War Child Canada is an internationally recognized charity organization registered in Toronto, Canada, dedicated to helping children and their communities overcome the devastating effects of war. Since being founded in 1999, War Child Canada has worked in 20 countries and is currently operational in Afghanistan, Yemen, Sudan, South Sudan, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), and Uganda.
In South Sudan, War Child Canada leads a consortium implementing the Pathways to Empowerment for Youth in South Sudan (P2E) program, a six-year initiative funded by the Mastercard Foundation. Delivered with consortium partners Windle Trust International, Titi Foundation, and HDC, together with 14 Refugee-Led Organizations (RLOs) and Community-Based Organizations (CBOs), P2E targets young Returnees, Refugees, Displaced Persons (RDPs), and host community members, especially women, across 15 locations in South Sudan.
P2E’s goal is that young RDPs, especially women, demonstrate increased resilience through improved access to education, market-relevant skills, and dignified and fulfilling employment, enabled by the growth of RLOs and CBOs within a supportive environment. The program is structured around four thematic areas:
• Thematic Area 1: Improved access to alternative and formal secondary education programming.
• Thematic Area 2: Increased capacity of RDP and host community youth, through market-relevant TVET, tertiary education, and skills training.
• Thematic Area 3: Increased opportunities for dignified and fulfilling work, through employability skills, business incubation, and labor-market linkages.
• Thematic Area 4: Establishment of enabling environments for RDP populations, including policy influencing and RLO/CBO institutional strengthening.
We seek to recruit a qualified South Sudanese National for the Position of Livelihood Coordinator to provides technical support and coordination for P2E’s livelihoods portfolio, supporting the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of market-relevant TVET and tertiary skilling partnerships, youth employability, market linkages, and business incubation, including the i-UPSHIFT model. The role assures the quality, relevance, and coherence of livelihoods interventions and pathways from skills training to dignified work.
The role works closely with consortium co-leads, RLO/CBO partners, TVET and tertiary institutions, universities, and private-sector actors to strengthen pathways from skills training to dignified work, and reports to the Senior Program Manager - P2E.
