Are you an experienced and qualified WASH Project Officer? Tearfund South Sudan has an exciting opportunity for a professional and qualified WASH Project Officer –Duk,Uror,Pochalla and Twic East Counties, Jongiel State,South Sudan

The WASH Project Officer (PO) is responsible for implementation of WASH component of the project including : Coordinating the repair of Hand Pump, Construction of Latrines, providing training and line management of Senior Hand Pump Mechanic, WASH Extension workers; monitoring and evaluation; training of WASH committees; and development of Water Safety Plans. His/her work will also include good sanitation practices (excreta disposal, vector control, solid waste management and drainage) and safe water supply (rehabilitation of existing Boreholes). The PO share regular updates with the Programme Coordinator concerning project implementation, and any other situation that require immediate action.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Degree in civil engineering, water supply and technology.
  • Additional qualification in Environment health
  • Proven experience in Water and Sanitation field work
  • knowledge of good practice standards: SPHERE
  • NGO experience
  • Experience in working with community
  • Experience in project implementation
  • Proven safety management experience
  • At least 3 years’ experience
  • Experience in implementing community WASH projects
  • INGO Experience
  • Proven strategic planning experience.

Skills/Abilities required:

  • Community mobilization skills
  • Participatory rural appraisal(PRA) skills
  • Computer literate
  • Ability to lead, participate and facilitate in collective staff prayer and bible studies
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (including the ability to communicate effectively in a particular language other than English for specific programs)
  • Computer literate, able to work efficiently in Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Ability to lead, participate and facilitate in collective staff prayer and bible studies
  • Training and mentoring skills
  • Arabic language spoken/written
