On behalf of the United States African Development Foundation (USADF) and the Power Africa, Foundation for Youth Initiative announces a CALL FOR PROPOSALS to eligible indigenous enterprises and companies that wish to “power up” underserved areas in South Sudan.

Maximum Award $100,000

Many rural communities, agribusinesses, and small enterprises lack access to power. But we know that South Sudanese are driving economic growth with innovative renewable energy solutions. We want your solutions to delivering power to underserved areas.


USADF will consider proposals from 100% African-owned and 100% African-managed enterprises, associations or organizations. Applicants may be developers of their own technology and/or acquiring or implementing technologies developed elsewhere. Applicants need to be legally registered in South Sudan, demonstrate the capacity to track and manage project resources, and operate in good standing with the local government.

Winning projects must

• Further develop, scale-up or extend the use of proven technologies for off –grid energy use;
• Benefit rural or urban populations currently underserved by utility companies;
• Include a business model that demonstrates financial sustainability
• Not exceed 18 months in duration;
