Course Description

Data collection and management has always been an integral part of development work. This course covers the whole ecosystem around data from data collection, visualization and mapping.

ODK or Open Data Kit

ODK or Open Data Kit is a set of free and open source tools that are used for field data collection using android mobile phones (Devices) and allows data submission to an online or cloud server. The ODK – Open Data Kit ecosystem includes the following components: ODK Collect, ODK Build, XLSForm, ODK Aggregate and ODK Manage as the major components. Other tools in the ODK ecosystem include ODK Briefcase, ODK Aggregate VM, ODK XLSForm Converter, ODK Validate, GEOODK, ODK Scanner, ODK Printers and the ODK Sensor Framework.

Tableau

Tableau is a powerful and fastest growing data visualization tool used in the Business Intelligence Industry. It helps in simplifying raw data into the very easily understandable format. Data analysis is very fast with Tableau and the visualizations created are in the form of dashboards and worksheets. The great thing about Tableau software is that it doesn’t require any technical or any kind of programming skills to operate.

Power BI

Power BI is a business analytics service by Microsoft. It aims to provide interactive visualizations and business intelligence capabilities with an interface simple enough for end users to create their own reports and dashboards. We all live in a data culture where business decisions should be based on facts, not opinions. Power BI can help make your job easier and more effective at the same time by converting all that data into charts and graphs to help you visualize your data in meaningful ways.

OpenStreetMap (OSM)

OpenStreetMap (OSM) is a collaborative project to create a free editable map and a free geographic database of the world. Its aim is to eventually have a record of every single geographic feature on the planet. While it started with mapping streets, it has gone far beyond that to include physical geography features such as footpaths, buildings, waterways, pipelines, woodland, beaches e.t.c and administrative boundaries. OpenStreetMap’s data is free to use by anyone, for any purpose. It is released under a license that allows you to copy, change, and redistribute the data.

This is the most comprehensive course as it cuts across all angles from Data Collection, Visualization to Mapping therefore if you looking to learn how to collect, visualize, analyze and map data, this training course is for you.

This course is suitable for people working in :
