Agriculture institute helps in the achievement of food security and better livelihood of small scale farmers by offering various courses in agriculture with the aim of providing training on diverse fields of agriculture with a view to strengthening the knowledge & capacity of African policy makers, including senior managers, negotiators, advisors, planners and analysts, to meet the core challenges of growing the agricultural sector as a main engine of national economic development
Climate Change and Agriculture Course (02nd to 06th April 2018)
In recent decades, it has been observed that there is a rapid change in climatic conditions which has resulted to several negative effects on human activities and development especially in agriculture and the environment. There is little awareness and understanding of the changing world in the rural areas where majority of agriculture and rural development activities are carried out.
Officers involved in agricultural and rural development activities do not have adequate capacity to inform and manage issues resulting from climate change. Thus, there is need to equip them with the necessary knowledge and skills in managing the effect of climate change for the development of agriculture and the environment.
Agricultural Biotechnology Course (09th to 13th April 2018)
Biotechnology refers to various techniques and technologies used in the bio-industrial production or bio-genetic controlled processes involving vegetal, animal or human organisms. Genetic manipulation is the most common form of using living organisms and bimolecular processes for the creation or modification of the physical properties of various types of products.
Food Security Analysis Course (16th to 20th April 2018)
Before intervening in a country, the first priority for development actors is to understand the food security situation of the population. Food security analysts do a wide range of assessments in order to identify hungry and food insecure populations and to establish the underlying causes.
This course is intended for various actors National governments, UN partners and NGOs whose work informs the policies and programmes that WFP and its partners adopt in order to fight hunger in different circumstances.
Promoting Entrepreneurship and Agribusiness Development Course (23rd to 27th April 2018)
Entrepreneurship and Agribusiness Development are the best hope for reviving weak world economies. Entrepreneurs cannot do it alone; they need an enabling environment in which their business can grow.
This course is intended for audiences working in governments, funding agencies, and research and non-government organizations for Emergency response and other Development programmes.
