Star Trust Organization (STO) is a National Non-Governmental Organization (NNGO) with special on Food Security and Livelihoods (FSL). STO is looking for a suitable candidate to support its Finance Department in Yambio.

Job Title: Finance Officer

Location: Yambio

Closing Date: Wednesday, August 07, 2019

Job Purpose

Develop and implement effective finance policies for STO in compliance with standard financial and accounting procedures. Coordinate and manage all financial and budgetary functions, accounting procedures, expenditure paper trail, ledgers, and payrolls administration.

Duties and Responsibilities

Provide an oversight in all financial issues of the organization.

Ensure that all staff and consultants have written contracts of employment and job descriptions before payment.

Provide financial, logistical & administrative support to the project activities

Implement donor financial regulation in funds management at the field level.

Manage project finances and oversee all local procurement ensuring that donor and organization’s policies are adhered to.

Manage the project petty cash, keeping records of all financial transactions.

Support preparation of cash forecasts, requests to ensure effective and timely cash flow.

Manage service contracts with third parties and supervise services rendered to STO activities.

Provide support and guidance to the whole administration department including HR, Logistics, Asset management and support staff

Perform all relevant tasks pertinent to finance functions.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Finance/Commerce/Accounting or related discipline
  • Minimum of 5 years relevant work experience preferably in a humanitarian or other International NGO context.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office computer packages (Excel) and accounting packages

Proven communication skills in both written and verbal

Proven ability to work in a multi-cultural environment and respect for diverse backgrounds

Possess sound knowledge of general finance and accounting policies, processes, and systems
