SMARD is implementing a UNDP Funded Project with a target of “Accelerating Peaceful Co-existence through Strengthening Communities Interdependencies.” The specific activities includes supporting wrestling as tool for social cohesion, supporting development of cooperation agreements on the use of “Gut-Thom” as a shared resource and improving mutual relationship between the cattle Camp and the state Authorities.
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
The position calls for a proper understanding of SMARD’s Routines and Guidelines on project Managementwhich will be explained upon commencement of the assignment.
PLACE IN THE STRUCTURE:
The Project Officer will report to the Program Coordinator who will be based in Juba. There Project Officer will be based in Yirol Town but with a requirement for occasional travel to other project area in Awerial county and other parts in Yirol West County.

THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION:
• Be in charge of mobilising the target beneficiaries in collaboration with the Field Coordinator.
• Provide Leadership for SMARD Team both in Yirol West and Awerial Counties
• Maintaining good relationships within the SMARD Team and the local community
• Ensuring that SMARD’s assets and equipment are used for intended purpose and safe
• Organize and conduct Training Workshops for peace Committees
• Facilitate Community Dialogue forums between local authorities and Local Youth leadership
• Organise and attend regular peace committee meetings
• Take minutes and records of peace committee meetings
• Organise the awareness raising and dissemination of the peace resolutions among
the cattle camp Youth
• Write field reports and submit them to the Program Coordinator
• Represent SMARD in any other activities that may be necessary
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
• A Degree /Diploma from a reputable institution of higher learning
• Experience with Microsoft Office operations
• Good report Writing skills
• Fluent oral and written communication skills in English. Fluency in the Local language (
Dinka) will be an added advantage
• 3 years experience working with either national or international organisations will be
added advantage

This is 6 months project duration, starting from June to November 2016.
