The South Sudan Nurses and Midwives Association (SSNAMA) was launched on May 4, 2011 at a workshop hosted by the Ministry of Health with technical and financial support from the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA). The association was formed as a result of the need to raise the profile of nursing and midwifery in South Sudan and strengthen the provision of nursing and midwifery services in South Sudan.
