Chemonics International Inc. , a leading international development organization based in Washington, D.C., seeks a Peacebuilding Specialist based in Juba, South Sudan, for the $60-75 million USAID funded South Sudan Promoting Civic Engagement and Peace activity (PCEP). This potential five-year activity will promote stability, local solutions, and citizen participation to mitigate conflict, advance reconciliation efforts, increase access to information, and empower civil society. The goals of the program will be to: (1) empower local actors to build cross-line interdependence and intra-community cohesion to promote peace processes and peaceful co-existence; (2) support civil society and others to more broadly and inclusively engage on issues related to good governance, reform, accountability, dialogue and local, regional or national-level peace; (3) enable key partners to provide trauma awareness and healing services; (4) support media outlets to provide accurate and fair information, combating the influence of misinformation.
Responsibilities include:
- Design program activities in the areas of conflict mitigation, resolution, and mediation, under the supervision of the Peacebuilding and Trauma Awareness Advisor
- Assist in developing conflict mitigation assessment frameworks
- Support the integration of conflict assessment findings into program activities
- Identify and collaborate with community-based organizations to implement peacebuilding activities
- Ensure all project activities comply with “do no harm” and other conflict sensitivity principles
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in relevant field

2-33 years of experience developing peacebuilding activities in politically sensitive and post-conflict environments

Demonstrated understanding of “do no harm” and conflict sensitivity principles

Proven leadership, versatility, and integrity

Fluency in written and oral English required
