Introduction
Open Data Kit (ODK) Collect is a mobile data collection app that is a perfect replacement for the paper questionnaires. It does not only collect numerical and textual data, but also supports geo data, images, audio clips, video clips and barcodes. This makes ODK a better tool for both qualitative and quantitative field data collection. Besides, data can be streamed in real time whenever there is internet, thereby making the research process faster. ODK has the ability to evaluate complex logics to control the display prompts and imposes constraints on responses. Besides, it supports groups of repetitive questions and can display questions using multiple languages. Nothing therefore beats such an innovative technology for data collection.
Objectives of the Course
- To introduce participants to ODK/Kobo Form Hub
- To design complex forms using XLS sheets
- To orient participants to data visualization and exportation to analysis packages
