INTRODUCTION:
Open Data Kit (ODK) Collect is a mobile app that has come as a perfect substitution for the traditional paper based questionnaire with all its limitations. ODK mobile app does not only collect numerical and textual data, but is capable of collecting geo-referenced data, images, audio, video and reads product/ supplies bar codes. These features make ODK a great data collection infrastructure for both qualitative and quantitative data. Data can be streamed to the online server in real time where there is internet or data, thereby making the field data process quicker, faster, easier, convenient and accessible to the research teams across the globe. With ODK a researcher can program and evaluate complex logics, control display prompts and impose constraints on responses. You can translate the designed tool to other languages respondents are most comfortable with without having to introduce human error in translation by enumerators during field data collection. Most importantly data in the servers can be explored and exported to other applications for further analysis. These and other great features of ODK make data collection and collation fun.
