AVSI is operating in South Sudan since 2005, implementing medium to long-term sustainable health, education, water & sanitation, food security and emergency relief programmes.

The organisation is now seeking to recruit suitable qualified South Sudanese national for the position of
Literacy Centres Supervisor

Duty Station: Torit, Imotong State

Role description:
The Supervisor oversees the implementation of literacy programs funded by UNESCO in Magwi and Torit Counties.

Duties:
• Monitoring the attendance (of both facilitators and learners) and use of the teaching and learning materials
• Cconduct pre-observation conferences, classroom observation and post-observation conferences with the teachers regularly.
• Make regular follow ups with the purpose of ensuring that recommendations made in post-observation conferences are not ignored and indeed the teachers improve on the areas of weakness identified
• Preparation for the post-classroom-observation conference, where the observer prepares feedback (based on concrete evidence in notes) on the performance of the teacher across each of the 16 parameters in the protocol

Requirements

Education
• Bachelor degree or diploma in education or related field of study

Knowledge and experience

• At least 5 years of professional experience
• Strong communication skills at a level appropriate for high level external representation and ability to tailor communications to different audiences
• Experience in team leadership and management with highly developed writing skills
• Established reputation in the field of nutrition and child health programming.
• Ability to train and build capacity of field-level staff.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Working experience with an NGO or private sector will be an added advantage.
• Experience to implement community involvement in implementing of programs is an advantage
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Fluency in written and spoken English, Juba Arabic
