World Vision is looking for a dynamic person to fill the position of Gender Based Violence (GBV) and Child Protection Officer, (Man or Woman) for its Irish Aid Project, based in Melut, South Sudan

Purpose of the Position:

World Vision South Sudan is seeking a highly motivated, organized, and experienced individual to participate in the implementation of Education project for conflict affected Children in Upper Nile Sate, and South Sudan. The overall purpose of post is to provide technical support management of case management and mainstreaming of GVB and Child protection concerns; organize GBV / Child protection capacity building training for teachers, community leaders, women group and Child protection committee members. The position is based in Upper Nile State Melut.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Implement GBV and Child protection activities in Melut county as per Irish Project document
• Participate in designing and implementation , GBV and Child protection activities in accordance with the project documents and donor requirements
• Create linkages with the government structures at county level such as the Department of Gender, Child and Social Welfare to ensure a strengthening of coordination between the CPCs and the county department
• Organize capacity building training jointly with the county department of gender, child and social welfare, who will then also be well informed and able to work with and support the CPCs on specific issues requiring further engagement with line county departments such as Justice and Health.
• Strengthening community structures Like Child protection committee/ and women group through training to take the lead during general community awareness meetings
• Organize training for teachers, WV staff on child protection, early marriage, GBV and peace-building and quarterly on the job training for Volunteer Teachers, ECD facilitators and Parent Teachers Associations
• Establish referral and coordination mechanisms with government institutions and other organizations and address GBV and Protection concerns
• Oversee the creation and management of children’s groups for life skills training and recreation activities.
• Establish and follow up ECD activities like in/outdoor games, drawing and art, athletics and simple physical exercise, cultural song/dance and storytelling, basic alphabet learning and numeracy.
• Manage , handle and refer cases related to GVB and other child protection concerns
• Compile, document and share project related reports, data best-practices to project manager
• Prepare and submit weekly, monthly and quarterly report to Project manager
• Provide full support to the Education Project Manager in carrying out the baseline study, community consultation semi / annual reviews, and evaluations during the lifespan of the program.
• Liaise with Government officials and other partners wherever appropriate and required.
• Effectively represent WVS operations and mission when accompanying visitors to project sites
• Perform other duties, when necessary.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
• A minimum of a Degree with 3 years or diploma with 5 years’ of work experience in psychology and other social sciences
• Practical work experience on GBV and Child protection is an asset
• Proven experience in working with community structures and government institutions( justice and social welfare )
• Analytical, problem-solving skills and comfortable working under minimal supervision;
• Proficiency of English language and Arabic communication skills
• Highly developed inter-personal skills/inter-cultural sensitivity;
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and email/internet programs;
• Knowledge of and adherence to the Red Cross and NGO Code of Conduct and capability of incorporating standards in design, implementation and evaluation of relevant projects.
• An understanding of human rights principles, especially those related to women and children.
N.B: This position is open to South Sudanese Nationals Only.

N.B: The incumbent of this position will be a Relocatable Staff.
