World Vision is looking for a dynamic person to fill the position of Child Protection Officer (Man or Woman) for its Office, based in Juba CES
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
The Protection Officer National Office will monitor and support performance of World Vision South Sudan Protection activities. S/he will support and train field-level Protection staff, perform on-going monitoring and support supervision, program planning, liaising with local government and Non-Governmental Organization partners, and staff capacity building.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure that the Protection projects are implemented according to national guidelines, and program objectives; Prepare and manage a work plan to ensure that all projects are well supported
- Coordinate with GIK for acquisition of Protection supplies by identifying and compiling needs, support preparation of distribution plans and preparation of post distribution reports
- Follow up with Protection Project Managers and field coordinators to ensure that weekly and monthly updates are promptly submitted to the cluster, communications and M&E
- Identify staff capacity gaps and source for appropriate facilitators to train and mentors staff for performance
- Conduct regular support supervisory visits to projects to ensure quality of Protection projects and support identification and documentation of quality success stories
- Participate in rapid assessments to provide an overview of the situation on the ground in order to estimate the immediate needs of the population within the area of operations and select the most appropriate intervention strategy;
- Ensure that each Protection project effectively works with appropriate community and government, and partner structures
- Whenever necessary, provide surge capacity to field teams with directly implementation of critical projects.
- Prepare internal and external reports within agreed deadlines using WVSS and donor formats, as required; including the cluster weekly updates and monthly reports
10.Ensure that all World Vision South Sudan staff including guests and contractors sign and abide by the National Child Protection policies at recruitment, and thereafter annual - Prepare and timely submit Child protection incidence reports to responsible persons as per the Child Protection policy
- Maintain effective working relationships with GOSS Protection department, World Vision Protection team, other NGOs, community-based organisations coordination.
- When called upon, participate in Protection cluster meetings and concept notes in coordination with the Resource Acquisition Team and Support Offices as needed;
Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in relevant area or Diploma in relevant field with at least 3 years hands on experience in emergency Protection programming;
- Professional technical experience, including 2 years implementing Protection programs in South Sudan.
- Demonstrated experience in capacity building, project design and budget management
- Strong understanding of South Sudan operational context
- Experience in working with and coordinating with the GOSS and other stakeholders
- Strong interpersonal, intercultural and communication skills
- Excellent analytical and written skills, and good computer skills
- Fluency in English and Arabic
- Additional qualities: ability to multi-task, ability to improvise, flexibility, adaptability to transition.
*This Position is open to South Sudanese Nationals only; - The incumbent of this position will not be a Relocatable Staff.
Working Environment / Conditions:
• Work environment: National Office
• Travel: 30% domestic travels is required;
