World Vision is looking for a dynamic person to fill the position of Public Health Officer, (Man or Woman) for its Health Pooled Fund Project, based in Kuajok Hospital, Warrap State, South Sudan
Purpose of the Position:
The Public Health Officer will facilitate health education sessions and community dialogue processes within the hospital and in the hospital catchment areas. S/he will work with the Gogrial West WV project, health facility staff and village health committees, community leaders and other community representatives to increase community participation, utilization and demand for health services.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Conduct health education sessions at the hospital in conjunction with clinicians, maternity staff and the administration
• Be able to support, supervise, identify infection prevention and control training needs/activities within wards and departments
• Where necessary, in collaboration with the Administration team, the incumbent supports the environmental hygiene and general cleanliness of the hospital
• Work closely with the WV Gogrial West project in the development of community dialogue activities and coordination with the village health committees;
• Conduct community dialogue activities to improve health seeking behavior on MCH and FP:
• Facilitate and initiate reflection on beliefs and practices, perceptions of risks, barriers to accessibility and acceptability of services and quality of care with community groups.
• Facilitate the development of community action plans and community monitoring.
• Write detailed reports on the activities conducted in the community.
• Contribute to monthly and quarterly reporting on the community activities.
• Support the development and adaptation of communication materials for health facilities and village health committees based
• Share action plans of communities to inform the demand creation strategy and activities.
• Share community perceptions of quality and responsiveness of the health facilities and discuss ways to improve this.
• Performs any other related duties that may be assigned by line manager.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Bachelor’s degree in social sciences or Public Health or Diploma in a related field
- At least 3 years of experience in community mobilization
- Report writing skills as well as analytical capacities
- and willingness to adjust to changing responsibilities or needs as they arise
- Proven ability to work cooperatively with others in a team environment
- Good understanding of written and spoken English
- The ability to speak local language (Dinka) is an added advantage
- Good computer skills (Microsoft Office, Email, Excel)
N.B: This position is open to South Sudanese Nationals Only.
N.B: The incumbent of this position will not be a Relocatable Staff.
N.B: The position is under HPF Project in Kuajok Hospital in collaboration with World Vision South Sudan
