Established in 2003, Malaria Consortium is one of the world’s leading non-profit organisations specialising in the comprehensive prevention, control and treatment of malaria and other communicable diseases among vulnerable and underprivileged populations.

We increasingly find our work on malaria can be effectively integrated with other similar public health interventions for greater impact and therefore expanded our remit to include child health and neglected tropical disease interventions. We work in Africa and Asia with communities, governments, academic institutions, and local and international organisations, to ensure effective delivery of services, which are supported by strong evidence.

Country and Project Background
Malaria Consortium began its activities in South Sudan in 2005, its main office is in Juba and sub offices in Aweil, Northern Bahr El Ghazel. Its programme areas include the Boma Health Initiative, Nutrition for children under five years, Health systems management, and LLIN mass distribution. Malaria Consortium
in South Sudan work with the Ministry of Health ((MOH) at the National and State level on policy and guideline development.

The current projects include Seasonal Malaria Chemoprevention
(SMC), Health Sector Transformational Project, BHI Digitalization, Severe Malaria (Reduce morbidity and mortality from severe malaria) and Zero-Dose & Immunization. We are also implementing research projects including Malaria Molecular Surveillance (MMS), Flood-Linked Locally led interventions and
Outbreak Warning for Malaria (FLLOW-M) and Optimizing Malaria Surveillance.

Malaria Consortium seeks to recruit for a Laboratory Assistant

Job purpose
The Laboratory Assistant train and build capacity of selected health facilities laboratory staff on malaria diagnosis through microscopy. He/ she oversees and implements all aspects of laboratory activities at health facility levels. He/she is responsible for planning, implementation, reporting and coordination with
health facility level staff.

Qualifications and Experience
• Laboratory Technician with Public Health qualifications
• At least two to three years’ field experience in related field
• Experience working in drug/commodity supply management and logistics
• Experience of conducting quality supportive supervision and data use
• Republic of South Sudan national.
