VACANCY – Information Technology Officer (1 Position)

Mines advisory Group (MAG) is a Humanitarian, non-profit making organization concerned with the impact of landmines on communities worldwide. MAG has established landmine clearance and awareness programmes across the world, and has been working in South Sudan since 2004.

Overview of role: Providing first line technical support while maintaining network infrastructure (LAN, Wi-Fi, Internet) to ensure smooth communication and effective functioning of the MAG South Sudan program and its wider networks including:

• Supporting and troubleshooting Windows 7 / 10
• Supporting Office 2010 / 2013 / 2016
• Maintaining Windows Server (including DNS, DHCP, Group Policy)
• Managing and creating users with Active Directory users and computers
• Monitoring backups to ensure data security
• Maintaining IT asset databases (hardware, software, licensing)
• Maintaining network infrastructure (LAN, wifi, internet)
• Maintaining security policies (anti-virus, system updates, system-access, etc.)
• Liaising with HQ IT department to help maintain MAG’s policies and procedures
• Liaising with 3rd party suppliers
Person Specification
Essential Experience
• 3 years’ experience providing first- / second-line technical support
• 3 years’ experience supporting and administering a Microsoft Windows server environment
• Diploma and or degree in IT
Essential Skills and Knowledge
• Knowledge of Microsoft Windows client and server Operating Systems and Office suites
• Knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, Exchange and file system security
• Knowledge of computer hardware including desktops, laptops, components, printers and other peripheral devices
• Understanding of networking fundamentals and standard networking hardware
• Ability to maintain records with high degree of accuracy
• Understanding of anti-virus, malware and basic security concepts
• Ability to provide high quality technical support to users, face-to-face and remotely
• Ability to explain solutions in a clear and concise manner
• Ability and willingness to undertake routine administrative tasks
