Job title: ICCM Project Officer
The ICCM Project Officer contributes to the implementation of MAGNA’s new ICCM project in Duk County (Jonglei State).
The responsibilities of the ICCM Project Officer providing support in the implementation of activities, particularly those at community-level, in the field location, reporting to the ICCM Project Coordinator and MAGNA Medical officer as well as other colleagues based in MAGNA’s main office in Juba.

General presentation of MAGNA:
Magna Children at Risk (MAGNA) is international humanitarian organization whose objective is to provide medical aid to populations in crisis. MAGNA organizes humanitarian and developmental projects in the context of poverty, disease, conflicts or natural disaster and regardless of ethnicity, religion or nationality of the beneficiaries.
The Approach of MAGNA is based on reinforcement of capacities of local actors as often as possible, in order to assure the durability and autonomy of care of the beneficiaries.
Responsibilities:
Under the direct supervision of ICCM Project Coordinator and MAGNA’s Medical, the ICCM Project Officer:
- Leading the implementation of the project activities at Health Facility level, including capacity building, Technical Assistance, Supervision visits.
- Prepare and adapt the curriculum for PPH training in selected Health Facilities as well as evaluation and monitoring tools, jointly with the Medical Officer.
- Under the supervision of the ICCM Project Coordinator, implementation of the ICCM related activities at community level, e.g. supervision of CBDs, coordination with CHWs, leading education/awareness-raising initiatives, etc.
- Support the ICCM Project Coordinator in capacity building, supervision visits and other activities to be conducted at health facility level.
- Support in the preparation and adaptation of training curriculum for ICCM, evaluation and monitoring tools.
- Support in the preparation and adapt training curriculum for CHW training on maternal health.
- Supervise and follow-up the performance of CBDs supervisors and CHWs, directly.
- Distribute reporting tools and guidelines and ensure good usage for ICCM data collection.
- Liaise with the supply chain management actors to ensure timely and cost-efficient distribution of the ICCM drugs, with support of the ICCM Project Coordinator and the Medical Officer.
- Ensure effective referral systems between community and health facilities through coordination with the other medical expert local of the project.
- Support CBDs supervisors and CHWs in elaborating and disseminating IEC and BCC material for child and maternal Health-related topics.
- Liaise with the ICCM Project Coordinator for expenses planning and follow-up.
- Organise logistics necessary for the conduction of activities in health facility and all related visits and meetings.
- Prepare and timely submit; weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual program reports.
- Support integration of the project with other related interventions in the communities.
- Collaborate and liaise with the CHD, county authorities and state MoH, for activities related to ICCM in the community.
The ICCM Project Officer will at all times, act with professionalism in all activities and will maintain the confidentiality of information accessed through the project.
Requirements/Qualifications:
• Minimum experience of 3 years in implementation of Health projects in South Sudan; familiarity with area of intervention of the project (Duk County) is a plus.
• Demonstrated experience in implementation of ICCM projects highly valued.
• University degree in social sciences, medical sciences, public health, program management or related field
• Experience working in rural and remote areas in South Sudan with variability in security levels.
• Experience managing logistical chain for health project in rural areas
• Willingness and ability to work in unstable contexts
• Advanced English (written and oral)
• Demonstrated experience in project and financial management
• Knowledge of computer software (Word, Excel, Power point, Outlook)
• Leadership and ability to train and manage staff
• Analytical skill and strategic vision
• Flexibility and ability to work under pressure and independently
