About the Course:

The Financial Management and Budgeting For Donor Projects Course is a comprehensive course that equips development and humanitarian staff working in organizational financial management to learn the key principles of sound financial management, managing financial resources more effectively and integrating good financial management systems for sound financial management. The course will enable the understanding of the key concepts of financial management as an essential skill. The course will also enable training participants to learn how to set up strong finance systems and procedures, create project budgets, keep basic accounts and prepare and read financial reports. This course will also allow training participants to gain knowledge, skills and techniques to apply best practices in financial management and budgeting in their organizations.

Training Objectives:

  • To build and use effective budgets, such as project and donor budgets and cash flow forecasts.
  • To describe the key processes and methods used to keep accounting records.
  • To enable the use of financial reports to monitor donor projects’ performance and identify actions to keep donor projects’ finances on track
  • To assess the strengths and weaknesses of organization’s financial management system
  • To explain how internal controls protect organizational assets and minimize the risk and impact of fraud and errors.

The training methodology will be a combination of lectures, didactic exercise, videos, role plays, group discussions and question and answer approaches.
