Job Title: Field Safety & Security Officer
Location: Tombura & Yambio
Reports to: Executive Director and Field Coordinator. Alternatives: Logistics officer and Technical Adviser
Contract duration: 6 Months
Job Summary,
The Field Safety & Security Officer (FSSO) assists in maintaining a safe and secure environment for TRI-SS employees, premises, assets and maintains solid and regular communication with local authorities and security. The FSSO set up appropriate safety and security system and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to maximize the safety and security of all staff and ensure they adhere to these SOPs at all times. The FSSO will update the country office on safety and security-related issues, trends, and developments.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities are :
Liaise with local authorities and facilitate continuity of TRI-SS operations.
Maintain security of TRI-SS compounds, staff, assets, and properties.
Train field staff on safety & security.
Access, safety & security of locations for all emergency/rapid response deployments
Ensure that the country program has an up-to-date Security Management Plan (SMP) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Facilitate SMP and SOP revisions as and when necessary and stipulated.
Monitor all communications from the field related to security incidents and planning and provide timely feedback
Make visits to each field site to monitor security preparedness and field training. Provide a follow-up report with clear recommendations after each visit.
Generate monthly activity reports on security, including database analyses, new threats, responses and vulnerabilities, and any relevant lessons learned from security and safety incidents.
Maintain the TRI-SS security focal points network at each field office and operation site and conduct weekly update calls.
Prevents losses and damage by reporting irregularities, informing violators of policy and procedures.
Maintain effective communication to report and record observations, information, and occurrences
Regularly conduct security risk assessments.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND COMPETENCE:
Diploma or degree in Administration/Security Management or relevant experience in the same field.
At least 1 - 3 years experience in safety and security, preferably with an INGO/NG O.
Language preference: English, Local Arabic, and local languages in areas of Operation.
Proven ability to produce timely written and verbal situation reports · of incidents.
Able to work in a team and independently with minimum supervision, excellent interpersonal skills.
Strong ability to manage information, sound judgment, diplomatic tactics
Highly motivated and with a desire to work with staff members from diverse and cultural backgrounds.
Ability to follow deadlines and respect line management.
Ability to travel and work under challenging conditions and pressure.
