The Integrated Development Organization (IDO) is seeking qualified trainers and speakers under its project on Building Transformative Youth Leadership.
IDO is a national NGO working to promote just and peaceful societies in South Sudan by empowering and working with grassroots communities, vulnerable populations, and excluded societies or groups estranged and uprooted by conflicts. We wish to recruit interested and qualified applicants (national and international) for the following position:
Job Title: Trainer and Speakers
Location: Juba
Reporting to: Technical Advisor
Closing Date: 14 March 2016
Start date: As soon as possible
Purpose of the position:
IDO will be implementing a six-month project under the Sub-award No. 4011-001- IDO-01 with Democracy International (DI) aiming to build the skills and knowledge of students youth leaders within Juba based Universities on leadership, good governance, peacebuilding and advocacy. IDO will build and enhance active participation of student youth leaders in political and democratic processes and increase networking with other key stakeholders to support them to better contribute to the South Sudan’s future. This will be done through promotion of a more enabling environment, capacity building on the role of youth in governance with a specific focus on young women and practical advocacy outreach activities to create increased awareness on the positive role that youth can play in nation building.
The project will include two five-day training courses to include a variety of modules around leadership, good governance and conflict transformation.
In addition, monthly forums will be conducted and guest speakers will be invited to present on a variety of topics.
In this regard IDO seeks applications from qualified trainers and speakers with backgrounds in the fields of democracy, leadership, good governance, peace building and advocacy.
Job category 1: Specific responsibilities for trainers:
• Meet with the IDO project team for agreement of methodologies, expectations, etc.
• Develop two five-day training courses for up to 45 students youth leaders on leadership, democracy, good governance, peace building and advocacy
• Draft all training materials and send to the IDO project team for review
• Organize, facilitate and lead two five-day training courses in collaboration with IDO staff
• Produce a final report on the completion of each training to document some of the key areas of discussion and challenges faced.
Job category 2: Specific responsibilities for speakers:
• Develop and present talks on leadership, good governance and democracy for up to 100 students
• Facilitate discussion, with the support of IDO staff, around the issues raised to enable space for expression of ideas and analysis
• Produce a final report on the completion of the event to document key points of presentation given and discussion followed.
Qualifications and experiences
• Proved experience/background in training/public speaking
• Extensive theoretical and practical knowledge of democracy, leadership, good governance, social inclusion, advocacy and peace building
• Experience working with university students preferred
• Fluency in English essential and Juba Arabic highly desirable.
