Coalition for Humanity CH-TOR FOR RICE FARMING EXTENSION SERVICES

Introduction**

Coalition for Humanity (CH) is a humanitarian and development NGO registered in South Sudan with experience in implementing humanitarian and resilience projects. The organization focuses on Food Security and Livelihoods (FSL), Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), Gender Based Violence (GBV), General Protection (GP), Health and Nutrition. Coalition for Humanity has experience in integrating projects and forming a nexus across sectors in order to leverage on resources. We consider Protection/GBV, Housing, Land and Property rights (HLP) governance, peace building and conflict transformation as cross cutting issues. As part of its European Union funded Building Resilient Communities project, the organization intends to pilot rice farming in Unity State and requires an experienced agronomist to offer consultancy services that will support rice farming in Rubkona County. The consultant will undertake the duties listed in this TOR.

Purpose

CH intends to pilot rice farming on three acres allocated by the State Ministry of Agriculture in Rubkona County. The purpose of this extension services is to support the organization’s food security and livelihoods team to implement all the activities that will ensure successful growth and harvesting of rice on three acres of land. These activities include, but are not limited to site and variety selection, land preparation, cropping, weeding, pest and disease control, harvesting, storage, prevention of post-harvest losses, and related agronomic practices.
