AVSI is operating in South Sudan since 2005, implementing medium to long-term sustainable health, education, water & sanitation, food security and emergency relief programmes.

The organisation is now seeking to recruit suitable qualified South Sudanese nationals for the positions of Clinical Officers.

Purpose
To supervise the waste management system by showing example, ensure health education and supervise the general hygiene of the PHCU.

Duty Station: (1) Bira PHCC, Ikwotos County. Eastern Equatorial Etate.
(2) Hatire PHCC, Ikwotos County, Eastern Equatoria State

Reports to: County Health Coordinator

Roles & Responsibilities
• Participate in daily morning meetings at the PHCC.
• Carry out consultations under 5 or above 5 of age and prescribe drugs according to the guidelines of MOH.
• Participate actively in the daily ward round before opening the OPD.
• Examine patients daily in the ward
• Refer medical cases which cannot be managed at PHCC level
• Ensure patient registers are well filled and legible
• Supervise adequate monthly and weekly clinical reporting to the County Health Department
• Ensure disease monitoring charts are updated
• Carry out minor procedures when necessary
• Ensure health education is undertaken periodically
• Coordinate leave days for the staff in PHCC
• Supervise the general hygiene of the PHCC (waste management principles)
• Participate in clinical meetings and general staff meetings
• Carry out any other duties as deemed necessary by the supervisor

Requirements

Education
• The Clinical Officer must be a Registered clinician at Diploma or higher level
Knowledge and experience
• Minimum of 3 years’ Working experience.
• Working experience with an NGO or private sector will be an added advantage.

Skills
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Good record keeping ,accurate reporting and numerical skills.
• Ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Fluency in written and spoken English with Arabic as an added advantage
• Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadline
• Ability to work independently

• Presentable, outgoing with a pleasant character
• Identify him/herself with the mission, vision and values of AVSI.
