The organisation is now seeking to recruit suitable qualified South Sudanese nationals for the positions of

Gender advisor.

Duty Station: Juba;

Starting Date:Successful candidate should be ready to start work within 1 week from the date of confirmation of employment.

Job Description:

The Gender advisor will Advise and contribute to carrying out protection activities in post conflict South Sudan, by advising and assisting the project Officers and Managers in the vision, strategy, design, implementation and management of Gender based Violence (protection mainstreaming) into projects.

The Gender Advisor will be having frequent missions to the field of operations.

Specific Tasks and Responsibilities:**

Advise, and assist on issues of gender-based violence (GBV), awareness raising.
Assist the officers and project managers in developing, monitoring and documenting the protection specific concerns.
Identify the needed capacities and mechanisms for ensuring effective gender sensitive support.
Receive and assist survivors of GBV in accessing available services through information sharing (referral pathway).
Assist the project managers and officers with community relations and mobilization.
Develop and maintain positive working relations with a varied network of partners, including Government, development partners, NGOs, and media advocacies.
Participate in GBV/protection Sub-clusters meetings.
Support the organization in the promotion of meeting, trainings and events.

  • Participate and report about the meetings, trainings and events.
  • Prepare and set the materials for the activities of the projects.
  • Prepare bi-weekly and monthly reports on the on-going activities from the point of view of gender and protection.
  • Support the project managers in the writing of the quarterlies and final reports.
  • Any other duty assigned by the supervisor.

The Gender Advisor position’s requirements:

  • University degree or studies in Law , social work and social administration or similar.
  • At least 2 years’ work experience in a management position in Gender and Protection issues, especially girls and women support and against GBV.
  • Perfect knowledge of English language.
  • Management capacity is an asset.
  • Previous cooperation with AVSI is an asset or added advantage.
