AVSI is operating in South Sudan since 2005, implementing medium to long-term sustainable health, education, water & sanitation, food security and emergency relief programmes.
The organisation is now seeking to recruit suitable a qualified applicant for the permanent position of Assessment and Monitoring & Evaluation (AME) Officer.
THIS POSITION IS FOR SOUTH SOUDANESE NATIONALS ONLY
Duty Station:
Torit, Imotong State (former Eastern Equatoria State) – with frequent visits across Eastern Equatoria
Role description:
The Assessment and Monitoring & Evaluation Officer will support AVSI Foundation by providing technical and organizational support for the design, execution, analysis and presentation of the surveys/assessments and other researches carried out by the organisation, overseeing the work of data clerks and enumerators in the field and following the guidance of AVSI senior management team in Juba.
This will include, among other duties:
- Planning the logistical and organizational aspects, overseeing the execution, and conducting the analysis of surveys in the sector of food security, education, protection and possibly nutrition
- Developing and fine-tuning questionnaires to be used for rapid and standard assessments, project baseline/end line, and post-distribution monitoring
- Assisting the identification and fine-tuning of project indicators (later to be used for project baselines/end lines)
- Data analysis and reporting: crafting of report and presentations based on survey results
- ToR development and contracting of consultant teams and enumerators
Depending on results, the AME may be asked to undertake other tasks such as presentation to Clusters and Partners and technical lobbying with donors
Job Requirements:
Education
Studies entailing Quantitative Analysis, possibly in the field of economic and/or rural development
Knowledge and experience
ESSENTIAL
- Proven professional experience in the field of project planning, M/E or applied research
- Good analytical skills, with proven experience of data analysis and report writing
- Good knowledge (theory and practice) of survey design, including sampling strategies adapted for areas with limited access and demographic data
- Experience in the development and adjustment to local context of survey questionnaires
- Good organizational skills and ability to work autonomously and support (possibly coordinate) multiple project at the sometime
- Fluency in written and spoken English
WELCOMED
- Experience in qualitative evaluation, participatory planning, stakeholder analysis
- Experience in database development and management
- Experience of socio-economic analysis of subsistence farming and/or informal economy
- Knowledge of some basic Arabic
