**AUDIO VISUAL TECHNICIAN REQUIRED**

We are looking for qualified National applicants to be contracted for 12 months to work in the UniPod in Juba.

UniPod is a physical space and creative culture in which would-be innovators from within University’s students and faculty populations across all disciplines as well as community outside the University can collaborate and work together to explore their own innate design talent to find solutions to their problems irrespective of their academic backgrounds.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

The position will consist of approximately 40% maintenance, cleaning, and repair of the space and equipment; 40% assisting members of audio-visual studio team with guidance of equipment operation; and 20% training on use of the equipment in the studio. Duties will include:

  • Conduct maintenance of all audio-visual equipment in the studio.
  • Assist members of audio-visual studio team with practical guidance of equipment operation to support functioning the studio
  • Conduct training on use of the audio-visual equipment for members of the studio, engineering team as well as learners/ innovators.

Workshop Management and Supervision:

Day to day assistance of workshop staff, members, volunteers, and makers.

Manage quality issues in all aspects of production, workshop operation in line with codes of practice, UniPod culture and ethics.

Assist in performing maintenance of all UniPod tools, equipment, fixings, PPE, facilities, and similar goods within budget.

Implement effective housekeeping and workshop management systems such as tools control and machine access.

Source and arrange for supply of materials and cost-effective use of materials and equipment in the workplace.

To support members’ production of activities and encourage employee development.

Health and Safety

Ensure a safe working environment by leading on the implementation of health and safety policy, systems and procedures.

Undertake duties in relation to fire safety, as set out in the H&S policy.

Ensure that all persons are aware of safety procedures and embed a strong organizational culture, seeking to develop a positive attitude towards health and safety among staff, volunteers, and members.

Provide adequate training, information, instruction and supervision to ensure that work is conducted safely.

Take immediate and appropriate steps to investigate and rectify any risks to health and safety arising from the work activity.

  • Ensure that there are always adequate emergency proceedings in place.
  • Carry out and keep accurate records of all health and safety procedures and maintenance in the workshop.
  • Undertake other duties as consistent to this position.

Required Skills, Qualifications and Competencies

Diploma or Certificate in any Engineering

Certificate in Audio Visual Studio production or equivalent at Diploma level, or demonstrable studio skills

1-year professional experience in a workshop environment

Strong aptitude for hands-on fabrication; must be a quick learner

Solid computer skills, capable of learning CAD, CAM, and ECAD software

Team player with a positive attitude

Willingness to tackle any and all challenges; must be a highly creative thinker

Language: Fluency in spoken and written English.
