COURSE OBJECTIVES

  • Introduce participants to recommended approaches and emerging or innovative tools for documenting best practices and provides a platform for sharing of experiences among development practitioners and lessons from working models and from their previous experiences for future strengthening of their project models and methodologies.

  • The skills in documentation and learning will also bring to the fore recommendations to inform future programming, policy decisions and funding and investment existing or similar projects.

  • Skills gained will also enable participants to prepare and conduct a review of processes, approaches, and activities that might have been done differently.

  • Introduction to ‘best practice”
  • Elements of best practice
  • Innovative tools and approaches to the documentation of best practices
  • Using documented best practices to improve development programming and influence policy change

LEARNING OUTCOMES
At the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Have acquired skills and knowledge, which will help them identify and document best practices using state of the art approaches and tools consistent with new trends and technology;

  • Identify and describe the lessons learned and highlight key achievements and challenges from programming to improve internal practices, promote inspirational practices and influence policy direction in the development sector.

  • Improve project and program sustainability, relevance and viability.

  • Acquire skills that will help to disseminate success stories to various stakeholders specifically policy and decision makers such as government ministries and departments, members of parliaments, civil societies and the general public.

TARGET GROUP

Development practitioners in general and program managers and monitoring and evaluation (learning and accountability) and program quality practitioners in public, private and non profit organizations.
