Report to : Hospital Coordinator
Radiographer or Image technologist will be based in Mother Tereza Hospital and is responsible for using specialized medical imaging equipment to determine a patient’s internal injuries or illnesses. Their duties include meeting with patients and talking with them about the types of tests they’ll complete like Ultrasound and X-ray and communicating with Physicians about their findings to determine patient needs. Radiographer or Imaging technologist, is responsible for using specialized medical imaging equipment to determine a patient’s internal injuries or illnesses.

Your role:

Under the supervision of the Lot18 Program Manager, the Radiographer will ensure quality and relevance of HealthNet TPO’s health interventions in Mother Tereza Hospital and also in the health facilities supported by HealthNet TPO in Lot18 in accordance with the prescribed guidelines of the National Ministry of Health of South Sudan, and coordinate activities in collaboration with the management of the Mother Tereza Hospital, SMOH and other stakeholders in the Hospital.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Reviewing and interpreting medical images to determine patient status and future medical care.

  • Applying medical knowledge and skills in diagnostic imaging for diagnostic and treatment purpose in MTH.

  • Determining the exact images required for diagnosis and delivering orders

  • Ensure the implementation and monitoring of updated MOH diagnostic protocols and universal precaution in the radiology department.

  • Administering trace amounts of radioactive substances to create and enhance diagnostic images

  • Monitor the propre functioning of radiology department, equipment and personnel.

  • Evaluating patients’ medical history to ensure the various medical imaging procedures will not harm them.

  • Working with primary care doctors, nurses and radiology technicians to administer treatment and manage pain.

  • Should have ability to teach the nurses working with him or her.

  • Reviewing and interpreting medical images to determine patient status and future medical care

  • Determining the exact images required for diagnosis and delivering orders to Radiological Technicians.

  • Interpreting the result from diagnosing imaging procedure to determine diagnosis.

  • Coordinate with the Surgeon in deciding management plan for the patient.

  • Monitoring patient progress and adjusting treatment plans as necessary

  • Conduct any other duties assign by the supervisor.
    PERSON SPECIFICATION/ Radiologist skills and qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in biology, physical sciences, or in a related field of Medicine with post graduate in radiography.

  • Proven work experience as a Radiologist or similar role

  • Knowledge of general surgery practices to help diagnose and treat injuries

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Strong motor skills and manual dexterity to handle small tools and imaging equipment

  • Ability to work long and irregular hours based on the clinic’s needs

  • Advanced analytical skills and attention to detail to interpret imaging results

  • Ability to remain calm and focused in stressful situations.
