Summary: Abyei Information and Radio Service (AIRS) is a local South Sudanese, not-for-profit media organization that was founded in October 2012 to provide critical news and information to the communities of the Abyei territory.
Established in October 2012 to support the proposed African Union referendum on Abyei, AIRS has been broadcasting radio programs since May 2013 in collaboration with The Radio Community’s Mayardit 90.7 FM and Akol Yam 91.0 FM stations in Warrap and Northern Bahr el Ghazal states respectively. The live and pre-recorded programs reach communities across Warrap, Ruweng Administrative Area (Abeimnhom Counties) and Northern Bhar EL Gazal states in South Sudan to the northern part of the Abyei Administrative Area known as Kec/Diffra. Since March 2020, AIRS is managing its FM radio known as “Abyei FM” which covers Abyei Box and neighbouring states in South Sudan.
Invitation of Applications
Abyei Information and Radio Service (AIRS) is inviting applications from interested qualified South Sudanese to take up the post of Senior Broadcast Journalist. AIRS is based in Agok in Abyei Administrative Area.
Interested applicants should submit their CVs, cover letters, photocopies of academic documents and nationality certificates to rmadut@airs-ss.org or cluke@airs-ss.org. Alternatively, the documents can be hand delivered to human resources office in AIRS compound in Agok.
