A leader and technical advisor with 9 years of development experience and 8 years with INGOs Mercy Corps Ethiopia) , in long-term Livelihood-livestock and agricultural value chains, and rural economic and resilience development projects. Currently working as Area Manager/Head of Office managing market based Pastoralists Resilience and Emergency nutrition projects Somali and Oromia regions of Ethiopia. The major focus on livelihood development includes livestock production and productivity, agricultural value chains, privatization of animal health services through strengthening and technical advice on market-oriented development, and enhanced marketing for rural economic development in transitional and post conflict context in pastoral and agro-pastoral areas.

In the course of my experience, I have successfully contributed to a number of high-profile pastoralist resilience, economic recovery and market system development initiatives funded by a diverse array of donors including USAID, OFDA and DFID. Some of the flagship projects include 4 years $ 20 M USAID-OFDA funded Revitalizing Agricultural/Pastoral Incomes and New Markets (RAIN & RAIN+) in Oromia and Somali regions of Ethiopia, $ 62 M USAID funded Pastoralists Areas Resilience Improvement through Market Expansion (PRIME) in Afar, Oromia & Somali regions, as well as $ 25M, DFID funded Market Opportunities for Somali Region of Ethiopia (MORE).

My specializations include strengthening livelihoods and networking of market services, livestock and livestock product value chain and marketing, initiating public-private partnership and facilitating a market system based approach to stimulate economic growth. I have led teams of consortium partners from INGOs, local NGOs Universities and research institutes in conducting an Emergency Markey and Mapping Analysis (EMMA) assessments, value chain analysis, training in feeding & management for Beef Production, the Community-based Animal Health Service Delivery, and Livestock Emergency Guidelines and Standards (LEGS). I have managed disbursement of small grants to facilitate private business creation and expansion.

I built a strong record of accomplishment of successful implementation on a firm technical foundation, and managing teams and market development activities based on Inclusive MSD, M4P, EMMA methodologies and facilitative market systems development approaches to deliver effective project outcome. This supported by qualification in Project Managements (PMD Pro1 & PM@MC) with excellent monitoring and evaluation skills, and a deep understanding of, and belief in, effective gender mainstreaming.
