Programme Policy Officer(Nutrition)-NOA

Summary of Job Description:

This position will be based in the Nutrition Unit at the WFP Country Office in Juba, South Sudan. The incumbent will work under the supervision of the Deputy Head of Nutrition and the overall guidance of the Head of Nutrition Unit as the coordinator of the Institutional Feeding Programme and responsible for WFP South Sudan’s programmatic and strategic engagements in the area of HIV/AIDs & TB.

Undertake the overall operational coordination of the IFP programme, providing technical and implementation oversight to field offices.

Engage with key policy actors and partners at both national and state level, undertake consultative meetings and field visits where needed, to review existing programmes and identify coverage gaps, operational challenges/constraints and best practices that will inform adjustments to the programme design;

Liaise with the key stakeholders in the country (national and international organizations) establishing sound relationship with different agencies for effective collaboration and common understanding and contribution to HIV/AIDs and TB related programmes;

Participate in key strategic fora including the JUNTA meetings, IFP partner coordination meetings, World AIDS Day and other related meetings.

With the technical support of Roaming Nutrition Officers, operationalize the strategy, building on existing approaches within WFP institutional feeding programmes;

Conduct training of WFP cooperating partners’ staff and Ministry of Health staff on the IFP programme;

Undertake regular performance reviews of the IFP in consultation with the relevant Country Office units, Field Offices and cooperating partners (CPs);

Standard minimum qualifications:

Education: Graduate degree in nutrition and/or public health, medicine, Social Sciences or other field relevant to international development assistance; or First University Degree with additional years of related work experience and/or trainings/courses.

Experience:

At least 5 years of post-graduate progressive experience in a related field which may include experience in working on food/cash assistance programmes, project management and design, working in or with government structures, especially the MoH departments and participation in policy fora;
