SCI is seeking to recruit: -

Job Title: Campaigns and Advocacy Coordinator
Location: Juba with frequent field visits
Reports to: Director for Campaigns, Advocacy and Safeguarding
Contract Period: 10 Months

In support of Save the Children’s Centenary Commitments, Protecting Children in Conflict (PCIC) and Pneumonia campaigns and advocacy activities will be conducted to improve the effectiveness and quality of programme interventions and the protection of children in conflict in South Sudan. The overall role of the Campaigns and Advocacy coordinator will be to assist the Campaigns, Advocacy and Safeguarding Director as well as PCIC and Pneumonia campaigns initiatives. In particular, the post holder will lead campaigns and advocacy activities as per planned interventions to advance Save the Children’s capacity to advocate for the protection of children in conflict under the supervision of Campaigns, Advocacy and Safeguarding Director


• Represent Save the Children in external advocacy and campaigns events
• Support Advocacy, Campaigns and Safeguarding Director in the overall advocacy and campaigns delivery of South Sudan advocacy strategy
• Support in the documentation of situation analysis affecting children and constantly inform line manager of the changing context
• Review findings of studies, draw up recommendations and scoping for improved and more appropriate interventions included integrated programmes
• Contribute to the development of Theory of Change initiatives demonstrating linkages across sectors which contribute to improved protection of children, improved capacity of child protection agencies and building evidence-based advocacy at national and community levels
• Support development and implementation of advocacy strategy that contributes achieves change for children in South Sudan
• Provide technical assistance to strengthen the capacity of government and other country-level stakeholders for the successful conduct and use of Protecting Children in Conflict policies and programs.
• Coordinate with Media and Communications Coordinator to develop Information Education and Communications (IEC) materials for PCIC and PCC
• Work with Child Protection and Health Specialists on PCIC and Pneumonia campaigns and actively engage in initiatives and recommendations to inform effective programming
• Participate in regular global coordination calls for PCIC and PCC and ensure country campaigns links with global activities

• Prior experience or demonstrated interest and passion in campaigns and advocacy
• At least 2 years of prior experience working in advocacy on child rights, human rights, humanitarian or development issues;
• Strong communication (written and spoken), and interpersonal skills, with experience in working in multicultural teams
• Experience of influencing and advocacy work including lobbying, policy development and information provision in children’s issues
• Excellent skills in advocating towards government officials, humanitarian actors and UN agencies in developing countries
• Extensive knowledge of child rights and international humanitarian law
• High-level analytical and strategic thinking skills and strong research skills
• Good attention to detail
• Excellent IT skills, especially in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
• High level analytical and strategic thinking skills
• Cultural awareness and ability to build relationships quickly with a wide variety of people
• Patient, adaptable, flexible, able to improvise and remain responsive and communicate clearly and effectively under pressure
• Excellent planning, management and coordination skills, with the ability to organize a substantial workload comprised of complex, diverse tasks and responsibilities

• Proven skills in media work, including interviews on Radio and TV
A knowledge of Arabic language
