JOB VACANCY: Education Specialist
AVSI Foundation is a global non-governmental organization with headquarters in Italy. AVSI is operating in South Sudan since 2005, implementing medium to long-term sustainable health, education, water & sanitation, food security and emergency relief programme.
The organisation is now seeking to recruit suitable qualified person for the position of Education Specialist.
Role
Programmatic and technical support to AVSI Education Coordinator in implementing projects’ activities and in the strategic development of the AVSI’s education programmes in South Sudan, ensuring the coherence with other sectors and effective links and engagement at national and local level (National and State Education Clusters and Ministry of Education).
Duty Station: Torit with frequent travel to the field locations (Ikwoto and Magwi Counties)
Assignments and functions
• Knowledge of academic and/or vocational education curricula
• Assist in development of proposal, new programs, budget and grants for meeting AVSI strategic plan in Education
• Assist in personnel functions (recruitment, evaluation) for maintaining adequate staffing, enhancing productivity of personnel and ensuring that the objectives of AVSI education programs are achieved
• Evaluate programs and project for carrying out and achieving the objectives of the Education Department
• Prepare a variety of written materials for dementing the progress of education programs
• Liaise with the State Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport in the mapping and planning of AVSI education activities
• Oversee implementation of planned activities
• Develop training manuals and facilitate training
• Research a variety of topics (policies, reports) for providing information, recommendations and/or addressing a variety of programs requirements
• Any other duties as assigned by the supervisor
Requirements
Education/Experience
- A minimum of a Degree in education field or other social sciences or equivalent from a reputable education institution
- A minimum of 5’years work experience with INGOs in implementing education programs
- A good understanding of the South Sudan education system at national and state level
- Work experience in Education in Emergencies is an asset
