This course is designed to assist officials in the compilation of monetary and financial statistics, in accordance with international best practices, with a focus on other financial corporations (OFCs).
The course consists of lectures & case studies that familiarize participants with practical aspects of monetary statistics compilation for OFCs. Participants are expected to make a short presentation on monetary and financial statistics compilation issues & use of monetary data in their countries.

Central bank officials responsible for the compilation of monetary statistics. Participants should have a degree in economics, statistics, or equivalent experience.

• Principles of economic sectorization
• Characteristics and classification of financial instruments, valuation, and other accounting issues those are relevant to the compilation of analytical accounts for the entire financial sector.
• Aspects of financial statistics
o Financial flows and stocks of all sectors of the domestic economy and their interactions with the rest of the world
o The balance sheet approach for vulnerability analysis
o Interrelationships between monetary, balance of payments, government finance, and national accounts statistics.
