World Vision is looking for a dynamic person to fill the position of Assistant Field Project Officer, Fisheries, (Man or Woman) for its FAO Grant, based in Rajaf, Juba, South Sudan

Purpose of the Position:

This position will assist implementation of FAO Grant entitled “Distribution of fishing kits for vulnerable groups” in central equatorial state (CES)

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
 Ensure proper community mobilisation and work with community leadership to identify fisher folk existing/newly created groups to benefit from the proposed interventions including vulnerable community members with prior knowledge in fishing but lacking essential fishing equipment.
 Support group members in identifying their leaders who will take lead in organizing the group.
 Support in groups training and provision of basic livelihood skills and equipment for fisher folk thus support individual production.
 Support in development of robust peer monitoring initiatives and follow up on individual fisher folk groups.
 Train fisher folk on net making to enable project beneficiaries to utilise the nets received from the project effectively for longer periods.
 Conduct demonstration sessions to fisher folk which including men who mainly do the capture and women who handle and process the catch and youth who are most vulnerable in the host community.
 Conduct regular monitoring of the demonstration sites to advice fisher folk where there is need, identify challenges and document progress towards achievement of the project objectives.
 Work together with County and Payam agriculture departments for implementation of the project activities.
 Participate in project assessments and implementation & evaluations.
 Assist the Project Officer in Coordinating with other agencies operating within the area and represent World Vision in meetings within the areas of operation.
 Collect on site data for record keeping and compile timely weekly and monthly reports as well as weekly and monthly plans and report to the agriculture officer.
 Conduct any other duty assign by supervisor.

Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience
• Minimum Qualification required: Diploma in Agriculture (Fisheries)
• Experience: 1-2 years professional experience in comparable position.
• A substantial understanding of rural development/rural communities. Regular field visits are required
• Ability to interact effectively with different stake holders and diverse communities of the operation area.
• Good command of English and possibly local bari and Arabic language.

N.B: This position is open to South Sudanese Nationals Only.
